Tell us more about Organically Becca and your message. Why is it so important to you to share that message with others?
A couple of years ago I was dealing with some skin and health issues, and it ultimately led me down the rabbit hole of learning about all the harmful ingredients in most conventional makeup and products we use on a daily basis. I wanted to share my experience and knowledge with others because it not only helped my health but shifted my whole perspective on how I shop as a consumer and the brands that I want to support. So I started the Organically Becca blog as a creative outlet but also to help educate others about what I love: clean beauty, natural skincare, organic living, and sustainable fashion!
That eventually tied into me trying to create less waste and reduce my plastic usage too. I’m definitely far from perfect in many aspects, but the entire “green” lifestyle can seem really daunting to people and I love being a resource for them and sharing what I know!
Do you have a favorite post or story you want to share?
Yes, and this is one of the most popular posts on my blog! I have a list of 30+ natural brands that use sustainable packaging (including Plaine, of course!). From makeup to skincare, to hair care, to body products. It can be hard to find brands that are taking initiative to use better packaging but I want to showcase the ones that do!
What’s your one best, easiest tip for minimizing single-use plastics?
Keep your reusables on hand or store some in your car so you always have them when you’re in need! Whether it be produce bags, a mug for the coffee shop, a stainless steel straw, or even utensils…just taking that extra step to prepare ahead will help!
