Tell us about yourself and your message. Why is it so important to you to share that message with others?
The founder, Callee is a sustainability activist dedicated to arming you with the knowledge & tools you need to spark progressive change in your community. In 2017 at age 23, Callee created Bestowed Essentials, a handmade line of eco-friendly personal care & cleaning products that are now available in 200+ stores. In 2019, Callee opened Hippie Haven – a zero waste store & community space in Rapid City, South Dakota – the first of its kind in the state. Callee’s life mission is to empower people with the knowledge and tools you need to spark progressive change in your community. We believe we can all work together to truly make a difference in our communities and make the world a better place to live for everybody.

What’s your one best, easiest tip for minimizing single-use plastics?
One of our top tips for reducing single-use plastics is to plan ahead. Always keep a reusable bag in the car and a set of reusable utensils in your bag. However, plastic shouldn’t be the end all be all. We are focusing much of our attention on the social justice and racial equality issues our country is facing right now.
What do you think is usually the biggest blocker for people in regards to living a more sustainable lifestyle?
Accessibility is by far the biggest block for people. It can be geographical, financial, or energetic blocks like becoming overwhelmed. The best way we’ve found to combat these blocks is to find your why. Focus on what’s important to you and work on that. You do not have to fix everything.
Do you have a favorite Plaine Product and if so, what is it?
Yes! I love the Rosemary Mint Vanilla conditioner for my thick curly hair. I especially love the new refill buckets we have at Hippie Haven Shop because I can refill my container over and over!
Any fun projects you’ve been working on during COVID or some sneak peek information on any upcoming projects?
