Three Things to Help You Travel Sustainably

It’s almost summer and everyone has travel on the brain. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. But trying to travel sustainably brings its own set of challenges. Especially if you like to travel light. Here are three things that make it easier to travel sustainably.

Carry along a reusable water bottle.

Even though you can’t carry liquid through security, you can carry an empty water bottle and refill it on the other side. Not only is this good for the planet, it’s great for your wallet. It’s crazy what they charge for water in airports! Most airports these days have added water bottle filling stations making life much easier. Then, if you want to go for bonus points, you can skip the tiny plastic cup with water on the plane. We love this glass water bottle from Ello.

Plaine Products aluminum travel size items.

Not to brag, but we are pretty proud of our new travel size products. Our shampoo, conditioner and body wash are all TSA compliant and in aluminum travel sustainablybottles. If you want you can use our regular size bottles to refill them after a trip. Or, if you prefer to recycle them, the aluminum can be turned right back into more aluminum without any loss in quality. When plastic is recycled it is downgraded to a lower form of plastic until it becomes unusable. Aluminum can be recycled infinitely.

Bamboo toothbrush.

Believe it or not, every year over 4.7 billion plastic toothbrushes are dumped in landfills and oceans. But who says toothbrushes have to be plastic? There are lots of wonderful bamboo options out there. We love Brush with Bamboo. Not only are their toothbrushes made from sustainable material, but they have Plastic-Free packaging and an awesome carrying case to keep your toothbrush bristles clean. Even if you are in love with your electric toothbrush, consider these as good options to help you travel sustainably.

We’d love to hear what you use to travel sustainably. Comment below, send us a pic or tag us on your favorite social media:  Twitter, Facebook, Instagram & Pinterest
