Welcome back to our monthly series of easy recipes from our partner Lexi, a loyal Plaine Products customer and vegan home cook. This month’s recipe is homemade, vegan crackers. It’s easier than you think! And, they’re delicious!

Homemade Vegan Crackers

INGREDIENTS: 

• 1 c. all-purpose flour 
• 4 tbsp. vegan butter, cubed 
• 1/4 c. nutritional yeast 
• 1/4 tsp. garlic powder 
• 1/4 tsp. onion powder 
• 1 tbsp. ground flax seed 
• 1 tbsp. chia seeds 
• 1/2 tsp. Salt
• 1/4 c. cold water 
• dash of turmeric (optional, for color) 

INSTRUCTIONS: 

Preheat oven to 400° F 

1.) To a food processor add all the ingredients except the vegan butter and water. Blitz a few times to combine ingredients. Now add the vegan butter and cold water. Pulse in food processor until a dough ball forms. If it seems a bit dry add a little more water! 

2.) To a floured surface roll out the dough as thin as you can get it. Make sure the dough is floured enough so that it doesn’t stick! Cut into square pieces then place on a lined baking sheet. 

3.) Next grab a fork and poke each cracker to create holes. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the crackers are golden brown on the edges. 

4.) Allow to cool completely on the baking sheet, they will crisp up as they cool. Store in an airtight container for up to one week.
