Eco Resolutions Idea #1: Make some easy swaps

Eco Resolutions Idea #2: Start carrying stuff around
If you don’t already have one, pick up a reusable water bottle, to go coffee cup and some reusable bags and then bring them along. It’s much easier to refuse a single use water bottle, bag or to-go cup when you’ve got an alternative on hand.
If you’re ready to take it to the next level you can carry foil or glass containers the next time you eat out to avoid styrofoam to go boxes. Polystyrene plastics that are used to make styrofoam are extremely toxic to make and difficult to recycle. Eco Resolutions Idea #3: Be choosey
When you can pick products that aren’t made from plastic or packaged in plastic. Shop at farmer’s markets, get your sugar at the bulk bins in the store, pick up a glass container of spaghetti sauce instead of a plastic one.
Eco Resolutions Idea #4: Reuse instead of recycle
While recycling is never a bad idea, it’s not the best one either. While some materials, like aluminum and glass, can be recycled without any quality loss, plastic is downgraded each time it is recycled. So it will eventually end up in a landfill or the ocean. And, now that China is refusing to take the world’s waste, recycling may be even less helpful in the future. Pick up second hand products, or something than can be used more than once when you are making a purchase.
